Just saw a 650 in the local paper here Sunday for $4500 with a 4 foot bushog. Sounded like a really good deal if it was decent shape. Most 650's I see are around $5000, though.<br>Keith

Forget the stump and tree removal with the 4100, unless the stumps are very old, or the trees are rather small. This issue has been discussed before many times here. Usually, the common advice is to hire that work out to a bulldozer and save the heavy wear and tear on your compact for things it is really suited for.<br>Keith

I think that very same comment is in the manual for my 1981 750, for the 4wd version of it anyway. I believe the reason it is in their is to not give the operator a false sense of security. In other words, I think JD is saying just because you have 4wd and can climb a much steeper grade than a 2wd tractor doesn't mean that you should!! Oh yeah, don't ever think a bush hog will keep you from going over backwards!! Most are made to float a good bit anyway, and the lift design (ones without downpressure) may be such that the lift arms can be pushed up with enough force (as in a backwards rollover).

My bushog has two sets of holes in it to bolt the pins that the two lower draft links attach to. One set of holes is for compact tractors, and the other set is for larger tractors. Maybe your subsoiler has these and you could just move the pins to the correct setting? If I remember right, the upper set is for compact and the lower set was for fullsize. Good luck....

I priced a few of 650's here in SC before I bought my 750. The average price I saw was about $4800 to $5500 for ones with NO loader or MFWD. You can probably add about $1800-$2200 for a loader. A box blade adds probably about $250 depending on size, etc. Since we rarely have snow, I have no idea how much the used snowblower would add to the price of the deal. You don't say if the mower is finish or bushog, but I am guessing a mid-mount finish mower which may add about $500-$1000 depending on condition. The tiller will be about the same value as the mower. These are ballpark figures, but might give you some idea as to how much to pay. I think the price might be about 10-15% on the high side. It's got a good many hours, but should have a lot of life left in it. Good luck...<br>

I bought an '81 JD 750 last February, here in SC. The tractor was in reasonably good condition with 977 hours on. Mine is 2wd only, and does not have a loader on it. I got the tractor, a four foot disc harrow, and some ballast weights for all of $4500 dollars. Good deal, no??<br>Keith

One way I was thinking of trying is: get one of those little drill powered pumps (I think Northern carries them) and use it with my cordless DeWalt drill. I think that those pumps in/out ports are sized to use most any 1/2

I looked at a couple of 650's before I bought my 750. The price I see for most of the 650's around here with no implements would be in the $5000 range, give or take for actual age, # of hours, and condition. JD's hold their value well.

Well, if you think one's description of a foot of snow as being heavy is funny, then try about 3-4 inches!! That's usually about the most we ever get down here *when* it does decide to snow. And when we do get that much, the whole place goes berserk trying to drive in it. Everybody runs their cars off the road!! And then they shut the schools down! Yeah, yeah.... I have a JD750 with a 4' Landpride Bushog. My instruction manual for the bushog shows two sets of hole locations for the two horiz. pins that the side draft links attach to. It says to use one set of holes for larger tractors, or move the pins to another set of holes for smaller tractors. I can't remember which was which as I am at work, but your bushog maye have this on it. It helps prevent the problem you are having, I think. Check it out.<br>Keith

My father-in-law owns one. A really great tractor inmho. It is rated at 30hp, but the same engine is used (with improvments) in the 5300 and is rated at 40hp.<br>Again, that same motor is used in the 5400 with a turbo to put out 50 hp. His has a has 520 loader on it too. I don't have any specs on it, though.

Cat 0 does not have a pto output shaft on the rear of the tractor. A Cat 1 will have the pto output shaft to drive implments. This means you are somewhat limited with the choice of implments that you can attach to a Cat 0 tractor.

I own a JD 750 and my manual has specs for both the 650 and 750 listed. They both show that they have an open-center hydraulic system.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Long tractors but a tractor with 26pto hp should be able to run any 5' mower with no problems at all, even in heavy grass. The key is to run the tractor in a gear that keeps the engine at the rated pto rpm, and at a land speed fast enough so that you can get the job done in a reasonable time. <br>PS- AND STOP SHOUTING, TAKE THE CAP KEY OFF!!!
